Symmetria: digital art book
Digital Art, Digital Imaging, Digital Photography
2012
This book is a continuation of my study into the visual impact of a symmetrical image.

The original images used for these artworks are photographs of light blurs, weathered paint, street lighting, industrial signs and equipment. They are everyday parts of the urban environment. When the symmetrical artwork is created by tiling the image, strange and beautiful compositions emerge from the textures and colours.

  • This book is a continuation of my study into the visual impact of a symmetrical image. As with my previous books (Symmetry Series), the artworks included here are created by using a mirror effect of the original photograph. To create these artworks, I often needed to see the potential for the resulting symmetrical image.

When the symmetrical artwork is created by tiling the image, strange and beautiful compositions emerge from the textures and colours.

There is something quite striking and unusual about a symmetrical image. In nature, examples include the butterfly, and there are of course many examples in architecture. What makes this book different from my previous books (Symmetry Series), is that in these images the symmetrical image is made from something quite chaotic and unplanned.
